Thanks to you, today we have a cleaner Mexico
On Sunday, February 26, more than six million people organized into 120,000 brigades, joining together for the fourth consecutive year of our Limpiemos Nuestro México campaign to clean up our public spaces. This is a monumental effort that brought together federal government agencies, civic organizations, businesses, and society in general.
I would especially like to thank the Environment and Natural Resources Ministry (SEMARNAT), the Public Education Ministry (SEP), Grupo Bimbo, and our own Fundación Azteca.
Participation exceeded our expectations. When we started, we were a million, then two million, but now we have surpassed six million people with a single goal in mind …. to have a clean country. Soon this will become a national movement that will change the face of our country.
Together we removed 30,500 tons of trash from our streets, squares, parks, natural reserves, and historic sites throughout Mexico. The garbage that we collected could fill enough truck to stretch a 30 kilometer long line.
We are very proud that this project is also being duplicated in countries such as Guatemala, El Salvador, Peru, and even China, thanks to the work of one of our suppliers.
Thanks to each and every one of the individuals who participated to promote a change in their neighborhoods, schools and workplaces.
Today we have a Mexico that is cleaner, but the most important achievement is that we are sowing the seeds of change in our children. They know that littering is unacceptable. Let’s think about it.
